Despite its extravagant reputation, Miami has provided the backdrop to many elegant and sophisticated weddings in several of Biscayne Bays beautifully restored estates. These marvelously renovated homes were constructed in the height of Miamis roaring twenties and feature lush gardens, breathtaking views, and lots of privacy. For couples who want the best that Miami has to offer without all of the fuss, these estates are an excellent location choice.
If a hotel wedding reception is more your style, then you might want to consider hosting your après wedding party in one of South Beachs historical art deco resorts. Hotels like the Savoy and the Delano are located on Miamis famed Ocean Drive and feature unparalleled views of the ocean, stunning art deco design, and five-star accommodations. For the chic Miami experience, these hotels are an ideal choice.

If there is something that Miami Beach has plenty of, its luxury resorts. With the sparkling Atlantic Ocean providing the backdrop, deluxe hotels such as the Delano and Lowes Resort offer five-star accommodations, spectacular cuisine, and idyllic locations. As someone who grew up in Florida and has resided in many of Miamis deluxe hotels, allow me to offer the following suggestions.
Choices in Miami Beach Luxury Hotels
One of my favorite resorts in Miami is the Delano. Located on fashionable Ocean Drive in the chic art deco district of South Beach, the Delano hotel has everything that Miami visitors could possibly want. Featuring deluxe rooms with panoramic views of the ocean, one of the most beautifully designed pools (complete with underwater music) on Earth, the world famous Blue Door restaurant, and the exclusive Agua Spa, I strongly recommend a visit to the Delano resort for the full South Beach experience.
Just a few blocks down the road from the Delano is the Lowes Resort. This is another luxury hotel in Miami that I recommend. Although not as architecturally chic as the Delano, the Lowes is much newer and offers contemporary comfort. The Lowes resort in South Beach specializes in luxury. From full-service beach and pool-side attendants to lavishly appointed suites, Lowes wants its guests to not have to lift a finger. . .and they dont!
Both the Delano and the Lowes resorts are a stones throw from South Beachs famed restaurants and stores and are a lavish choice for Miami accommodation. Granted, you arent going to save any money by staying at either of these resorts, but you will definitely have a great time. Whether your preference leans toward the historical and architecturally astonishing Delano or the contemporary and luxurious Lowes or any of the other many Miami Beach luxury hotels, I guarantee youll have zero regrets.

Miami Beach is a very beautiful place to visit. It is also a very complex city to navigate if you arent familiar with the area. That is why I recommend that anyone planning on visiting Miami Beach purchase some city maps. While this might seem like a super-touristy thing to do, I guarantee it will save you money and time in the long run.
Miami Beach Area Maps
Miami Beach is vast metropolis made up of many small cities, man-made islands, and bridges. Before it was developed in the early 19th century, Miami was nothing more than a huge mangrove swamp full of water and uninhabitable beaches. It wasnt until a group of savvy (and wealthy) engineers decided to dredge the now-famous Biscayne Bay that Miamis famed shoreline came into creation.
If you are planning a trip to Miami and wish to stay on the beach, then chances are you want to stay in South Beach. Home to the areas world-famous art deco district and chic Ocean Drive, South Beach is also where you will find most of the luxury hotels such as the Delano and the Lowes resorts. In order to get to South Beach, visitors must cross a bridge from the mainland. In description, Miami is very difficult to picture. Thats why maps of the area are so helpful.
Miami is a huge place full of historical objet dart, rich culture, beautiful beaches, and regional flavor. In order to experience Miami at its most authentic, I strongly recommend you pick up an area map. Acting as your very own tour guide will help you get a local feel for the city and provide you with a balanced perspective.

Miami Beach hotel reviews can be very helpful. There are literally hundreds of hotels in Miami and trying to choose the right one can be difficult (especially if its your first trip). As someone who grew up in Florida and is very familiar with the Miami area, I would like to offer the following reviews on some hotels I enthusiastically recommend. There are also many sites on the Internet dedicated to reviews of different hotels. Reading the opinions of fellow travelers can be quite helpful when trying to find a hotel.
Top Three Miami Beach Hotel Reviews
Depending on your budget and accommodation preference, there are myriads of Miami hotel options to consider. For individuals who want the five-star Miami experience, I recommend the Savoy Hotel. Located in the heart of South Beachs savvy art deco district, the Savoy Hotel is Miamis only restored art deco hotel that is located directly on the ocean. Offering its guests private beach access, breathtaking views of the Atlantic from any of its all-suite accommodations and numerous luxury amenities, the Savoy is an excellent accommodation choice.
The Abbey Hotel is another excellent Miami resort. Also located in South Beach in the art deco district, the Abbey sits opposite beautiful Collins Park and is approximately one block from the ocean. Due to the fact that it is not an oceanfront hotel, the rates tend to be lower. This is ideal for individuals who want to experience classic Miami style, but dont want to pay classic Miami prices.
For the more moderate spender, Miamis Hotel Nash is an excellent choice. Initially built in 1935 during Miamis roaring heyday, Hotel Nash was beautifully resorted to its original splendor in 1999. With an emphasis on comfort, style, and attentive personal service, this charming hotel features 52 beautifully appointed rooms, three soothing spa pools, a five-star restaurant, and an ideal location (1 block from the beach). As far as charming hotels in South Beach are concerned, I give Hotel Nash my highest rating.

Florida Travel: Cheap Miami Beach Hotels

Not everyone can afford a five-star vacation in Miami. Fortunately, Miami is host to just as many cheap hotels as posh ones. As someone who has been to Miami dozens of time and stayed in hotels on both ends of the price spectrum (and several in between), I would like to offer some information about cheap (but nice) hotels that I recommend. Hopefully the following tips will help in planning your next low-budget trip to Miami.
Cheap Miami Beach Hotel Suggestions
The Greenview Bed and Breakfast is an excellent (and cheap) place to stay in Miami. Located in the trendy art deco district of South Beach, this European style B&B is a mere two blocks from the beach and just around the corner from some of Miamis hottest art galleries, boutiques, restaurants and theaters. Originally built in 1939 and restored in 1995, the Greenville offers budget conscious visitors elegant simplicity for a low cost.
Another excellent, cheap hotel in Miami is the Fairwind Hotel. Also located in the art deco district of South Beach (on chic Collins Avenue), this hotel is a stones throw away from the Atlantic Ocean and just a few minutes walk from such Miami hotspots as the Delano, Skybar, Mynt, and Nikki Beach. Unlike the quaint Greenville, the Fairwind features an outdoor restaurant (Fairwind Bar & Grille), which provides visitors with the perfect spot to sit and watch the street scene. And with prices starting under at $100 (off season), you cant go wrong.
Nothing in Miami, as far as I am concerned, is more charming than a privately owned and completely remodeled art deco historic hotel. That is why I reserve my highest cheap hotel rating for the Ocean Surf Hotel. Situated directly on the beach adjacent Bal Harbour, the Ocean Surf Hotel features small, simple rooms for great prices. Built in 1940 and refurbished in 1997, what the Ocean Surf lacks in amenities and luxury accommodations, it makes up for in charm, customer service, and art deco style.
